In the 2010 general election 315 people chose to stand as independents, representing those who felt disillusioned and disenfranchised by party politics they received 144 000 votes.The odds are always stacked heavily against these idealists. However, this long shot position does little to stop their enthusiasm and commitment to the idea of a mutualist democracy.
